A day trip from Seattle to Victoria is possible by Victoria Clipper. On the dates checked (18–26 October 2026) the ferry leaves Seattle at 8:00 am and arrives at 11:00 am, with the return leaving Victoria at 5:00 pm. Clipper asks you to check in at least an hour before departure, so you have roughly five hours before you need to be back at the terminal, less time clearing arrival formalities. The time check below does the sum.

How many hours do you get in Victoria?

How the time check works

The tool starts from the ferry’s published arrival and return times, subtracts the 60-minute check-in that Clipper recommends, and subtracts a 20-minute allowance for getting off the boat and into town. The 20 minutes is an estimate; edit it. The result is your time on the ground, and what the lowest published fares cost for your party per hour of that time.

Other options from the Seattle area

The Port Angeles route takes cars, but Port Angeles is a separate drive from Seattle that this tool does not count. See the Seattle to Victoria ferry page for check-in, baggage and ID details, and the Anacortes page for why the direct ferry from the north is not an option.

Frequently asked questions

Can you visit Victoria for a day from Seattle?

Yes. Clipper’s sample schedule for 18–26 October 2026 shows an 8:00 am departure from Seattle arriving at 11:00 am and a 5:00 pm departure from Victoria. Times and the number of daily sailings change by season, so check your date.

How much time do I really get in Victoria?

Use the time check above. With the sample times, the ferry arrives at 11:00 am and Clipper asks you to be at the Victoria terminal at least an hour before the 5:00 pm departure, which leaves about five hours. Clearing arrival formalities and, before departure, US Customs takes some of that.

What does it cost?

The lowest fares listed on 18 October 2026 started at $179 one way from Seattle and $180 from Victoria for the sample dates; Clipper’s page does not name the currency. The tool applies the lowest listed fare for each traveller both ways.

Do I need a passport?

You are crossing an international border, so yes, you need an accepted border document such as a passport, US passport card, NEXUS card or an enhanced licence; a standard REAL ID alone is not accepted. Children 15 and under need proof of citizenship. Check Clipper’s travel information page.

What if I miss the return ferry?

If you are not on board 15 minutes before departure you forfeit your seat and your entire fare, according to Clipper’s travel information. Allow for the check-in and Customs time.
